    • this has been one of the most important things in our lives for quite a while now.

      while it's sad to see it come to an end, we're all glad we can look back on some great experiences we have had, and wonderful people we have met throughout the years.

      none of us are too sure about how we feel about doing a final show, not ruling it out completely, but sometimes that can come off the wrong way, and none of us want that. if we can do it right, we will do it.

      we want to thank everyone who has been a part of this, good or bad. it's been a pretty crazy trip.

      first of all I wish everyone of you a happy 2009. This past year has been going extremely well for me, as far as the label goes so I also wanna say THANKS for the support in 2008 to all my old and new friends and I hope this year will be even better! I have a ton of great releases coming up - check it out!!

      The AUTISTIC YOUTH - LANDMINE BEACH LP will be repressed soon, in about a month. I still have copies of both THE OBSERVERS - DOWN ON TODAY 7" (very few ltd. green vinyl) and AUTISTIC YOUTH / COLA FREAKS split 7" so get in touch if you want some.

      UPCOMING RECORDS:

      To start things off I'm happy to announce that the repress of the MY HELL 12" by Bakersfield's LOSER LIFE is finally at the pressing plant. This edition will be a one-sided record with silkscreen art printed on the filpside. The first press are 750 - 200 of those on white wax available from my mailorder and the band only. I expect the record to be out in early March.
      LOSER LIFE just hit the studio to record their second full length FRIEND WITH A DEMON that will also be TAKEN BY SURPRISE love product and scheduled for the spring! I'm really really looking forward to this LP and you should too!!

      Also in the works is the 2nd LP by Portland's AUTISTIC YOUTH. The recording process got delayed a bit but I hope to have this one out around April, too. This record will be a co-production with SABOTAGE RECORDS in Europe - DIRTNAP REC. and BLACK WATER will release it in the USA.

      Another upcoming record is the first full length by BAD PARENTS from Long Beach, CA. This is due to be out sometime later this year followed by a European tour later. Again a cooperation with my friend Franz from SABOTAGE!

      There's also gonna be a 12" by Portland's DEFECT DEFECT. The band features Adam from AUTISTIC YOUTH on guitar, Colin and Mike who were in THE OBSERVERS and Katie Beast on Bass and has 2 7"s out on CLARENCE THOMAS RECORDS. Expect to the point early 80s HC here with a hint of the members old/other bands vibe. This record will be a cooperation with my friend Andreas THRASHBASTARD!       7"s that are coming up here are by the great SEDATIVES (www.myspace.com/sedativesedatives) from Ottawa, Canada. Great punk influenced by THE OBSERVERS and LOST SOUNDS. Their first 7" was one of my favorite records that came out recently and I'm really looking forward for their upcoming LP on P.TRASH! Expect a 7" on TAKEN BY SURPRISE in the fall of 2009. Also in the fall I will put out a 7" by my German favorites IDLE HANDS (www.myspace.com/idlehandspunk). In the meantime get their first 7" and wait for the upcoming LP on HARDWARE RECORDS. There should be a 7" coming out with the most straight edge band since CHOKEHOLD: the almighty BRUTAL KNIGHTS (www.myspace.com/brutalknights), no timing here yet, sorry. They will tour Europe starting April and have a 12" EP on P.TRASH ready for the tour!

    • We have formed a new partnership! New record in summer!!!!!! We have 9 songs done already.

      Southern California’s metaphysical DIY badasses HORSE THE BAND have signed to Vagrant Records. The oft-misunderstood band of horses is currently writing material for their fourth full-length with plans to enter the studio in March. A mid-summer release is expected.

      “Finally we can breathe as humans breathe, walk as humans walk,” says vocalist Nathan Winneke. “Band as horses band,” chimes in drummer Daniel Pouliot. Keyboardist Erik Engstrom comments, “Vagrant Records has been home to so many of our favorite bands. Now (9, 8, and 7 years after I sent them our first, second, and third demos respectively) the label has renewed their holy vows to ‘excellence’ by signing us.”

      HORSE the band has been developing their experimental sound through near-constant touring – even booking their own 45-country, 3-month world tour. The band will be touring overseas once more to take part in Australia’s Soundwave Festival 2009 before they enter the studio and are gearing up to self-release their Earth Tour DVD and photo book

      HORSE the band’s debut album, R. Borlax was released in 2003 and was followed by The Mechanical Hand in 2005 and A Natural Death in 2007.

    • Bridge Nine has announced yet another signing for 2009 and this time, they went across the pond and signed up the Dead Swans from the UK for the label’s first ever worldwide deal with a band from overseas. Label Manager Karl Hensel said, “It’s been a goal of ours to work with a band from overseas for a long time. Bridge Nine is a global label, and there’s a lot of great hardcore from the UK and Europe and we recognize that. Dead Swans was a band that a few Bridge Nine bands tipped us off about, and after checking around, it was a very easy decision.”

      Formed in 2006, Dead Swans have been making a name throughout the UK and Europe with a ferocious blend of hardcore that takes the musical influence from turn of the century Boston hardcore like American Nightmare and Right Brigade. They add a discordant melody and double bass metallic edge that, when combined with vocalist Nick Worthington’s strained voicebox abuse, creates a mix that has been garnering the Brighton, UK band global attention. As such, they have shared the stage and the road with a very impressive list of bands worldwide-from Bridge Nine’s Ruiner and Verse to Blacklisted, Integrity, Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats, and Gallows.

      Dead Swans have been enjoying an incredible past 12 months, considering all they’ve released to date is a demo, the Southern Blue EP on Thirty Days Of Night, and a split 7” with Architects. In fall of 2008, the Dead Swans were nominated for a Kerrang! Award as the Best British Newcomer-which was both as surprising as it was flattering. As guitarist Stewart “Pid” Payne stated, “It was real strange- a hardcore band being shortlisted at Kerrang! Awards, but we went for the experience. We got to hang out with the guys in Cancer Bats and Gallows, we got to meet Metallica and we heckled abuse at anyone we felt deserved it. It was a night we won’t be forgetting soon”.

      During March and April, the band will be touring the UK and Europe with This Is Hell and the Blackout Argument that will lead them into April, when the band will be entering the studio to record their debut full-length which will hit stores later in 2009. Payne stated, “We are real happy about signing to Bridge Nine. We all want to travel worldwide with this band and working with B9 is going to allow us to do this. On top of that, being part of a label that in our opinion has put out some of the best hardcore records ever is exciting!”

      I'm utterly stoked to announce that AUTISTIC YOUTH will be releasing their upcoming 2nd full length LP on TAKEN BY SURPRISE RECORDS in Europe!
      It will be a split release again with my dearest friend Franz from SABOTAGE RECORDS and is scheduled for spring 2009.

      The US version of the record will be out on two great Portland based labels: BLACK WATER RECORDS and DIRTNAP!

      The band will also come back to Europe for a full tour in the summer, details for that will be announced soon.
